Francis Kelly interviews Maurie Ryan, First Nations candidate for the Stuart electorate in the 2012 NT Election
17 August 2012
The count down to the Northern Territory’s August 25 election is on. The battle for the seat of Stuart, which covers most PAW communities, is shaping up to be a tight contest. It’s the first time voters can choose from three Aboriginal candidates – incumbent Karl Hampton from the ALP, Bess Price from the CLP, or Maurie Ryan from the First Nations Party. PAW Chairperson Francis Kelly caught up with each of the candidates. He asked them each about what they stand for and how they intend to make a difference in the whitefella government system. Listen to this interview with Maurie Ryan. Intro music by Desert Mulga Band.
