Sista Sounds have been inspiring budding young Divas with songwriting workshops in Yuendumu this week. Sista Sounds is a Music NT initiative involving female singers and songwriters travelling to communities inspiring Indigenous women of all ages to get into singing. The Yuendumu workshop had the added bonus of performances and practical advice from Catherine Sartour from the Desert Divas. An enthusiastic group of girls from Yuendumu school spent two days working with the Sistas, and liked it so much they came back after school! They learnt about song structure, wrote lyrics, played instruments and had a lot of fun. The girls will enter their songs in the Yuendumu Road Safety song contest on May 8th.
