PAW radio draws a crowd at Nyirrpi
14 April 2011
PAW Radio is on the move, travelling to communities in our broadcast area over the next few months.
This week we set up our outdoor studio in Nyirrpi community, outside the Nyirrpi Shop. Broadcasters Norbert Japaljarri Morris and Curtis Jampinjimpa Fry turned up the speakers and entertained the crowd with lots of Yapa music and took live requests.
Local boy Norbert kicked off the show with, of course, Desert Mulga's
Nyirrpi Song. Curtis entertained his local fans throughout the afternoon
and took phone requests from other communities, thanks to the public phone beside the radio desk. There was a much appreciated sausage sizzle from Mt Theo and some brave Nyirrpi school
kids were interviewed about their big trip to Melbourne. They also
enjoyed testing out PAW's headphones and mics!
All in all, a great afternoon of
live community radio. So good, we're going to do it again!■■■
