Yuendumu Battle of the Bands 2009
The annual Yuendumu Battle of the Bands starts at around 8pm on the Saturday of the August long weekend and goes through to the early hours of the next morning. People and bands from communities, hundreds of kilometres away, travel to be part of Yuendumu Sports. Under the bright stars of a winter's night everyone gets together to enjoy a night of incomparable desert music. The competition for the best band of the night is intense. In 2009 PAW Media recorded the evenings events for a CD, with new gear bought through an AMRAP grant. Here is a selection of the tracks from the CD.
